Art Meets Functionality in Award-Winning Lighting Design

Designers Changhai Zhao, Meiling Wang, and Xiang Zhang have reimagined the piano lamp with their L&S Arno Series, drawing inspiration from the stability and beauty of Florence's Ponte Vecchio and the Arno River. This series stands out for its unique conical base with a silicone sucker, ensuring stability and multiple anti-tipping features. The groove design cleverly avoids interference with the piano hinge, safeguarding the instrument while providing a simple yet artistic aesthetic.

The L&S Arno Series excels in functionality, offering tailored illumination for pianists. The lamps ensure an illuminance of no less than 300 lx on the piano keys, achieving AA-grade lighting. The use of full-spectrum LED technology mimics natural sunlight, enhancing the playing experience. The series also boasts an OLED display, a hygrothermograph, and a metronome, supporting multi-angle rotation for comprehensive illumination across various piano types.

These lamps are a product of extensive optical and thermal research, incorporating lens and reflection technologies to achieve precise and even lighting. The full-spectrum LED used has a high color rendering index, ensuring a flicker-free and radiation-free environment that's safe for the eyes. The OLED display enhances functionality, with a built-in metronome and hygrothermograph aiding both practice and the maintenance of the instrument.

Technical specifications of the L&S Arno Series include a foolproof overload protection design and fire protection, ensuring safety and durability. The series, which includes the ARNO and ARNO PRO models, is compatible with Type-C ports and boasts a 15-degree anti-tipping design for added security. The metronome produces natural mechanical sounds, preferred by many musicians for their authenticity.

The L&S Arno Series operates through a multi-shaft design allowing large-angle joint rotation, suitable for electric, upright, and grand pianos. It features intelligent sensor lighting that automatically powers down after 10 minutes of inactivity. The independent touch button allows for manual and stepless brightness adjustments, with the PRO type offering a color temperature range of 2700K-5000K.

Conceived and realized between September 2022 and May 2023 in Shanghai, the L&S Arno Series represents a harmonious blend of art and technology. The design team faced the challenge of creating a stable, flexible, and aesthetically pleasing lamp that could adapt to different piano types without compromising on quality or functionality. Their success is evident in the series' ability to provide an ultimate user experience, recognized by the Silver A' Design Award in 2024 for Lighting Products and Fixtures Design.
